This tour offers an easy alternative to reach Vieng Phoukha. An English speaking guide, picnic lunch with local food and transport by minivan are included. The tour takes appr. 5 to 6 hours.

 

You will start at the Into the Wild office at 9:00 am. The tour will follow the main road that runs from Luang Namtha to Vieng Phoukha, gradually gaining elevation. On the way you will pass mountains, streams, the Nam Ha protected area, and different villages of ethnic minorities, like Akha, Lanten, Khmu and Tai Dam.

 

For lunch you will stop at the Kao Rao cave, which can only be reached by a small forest trail. Here you will have some time to relax and explore the cave and surroundings. Later the tour will continue to the Vieng Phoukha valley, where you have beautiful vistas of the mountains and vast rice paddies. In the valley you will visit several interesting spots, before you turn back to Luang Namtha.
