This tour offers an easy alternative to reach Muang Nalae. An English speaking guide, picnic lunch with local food and transport by minivan are included. The tour takes appr. 7 to 8 hours.

You will start at the Into the Wild office at 9:00 am. You begin along a dirt road, partly alongside the Namtha river. Along the way you will visit different villages of ethnic minorities, like Tai Dam, Lanten, Khmu and Tai Lue. You will visit a silk factory in a Tai Dam village and a bamboo paper makery in a Lanten village (during dry season only).

The Namtha River forms the boundary of the Nam Ha protected area, which you will be able to see on the other side of the river. The tour ends in Muang Nalae, the district capital. Nalae has several basic guesthouses and restaurants. From here you will continue your journey on your own. You can choose to go back to Luang Namtha by song theow boat or you can go onwards by boat to Houei Xai, at the Lao-Thai border.
