DAY 1

At 9:00 am the tour will start from the Into the Wild office. You will follow the main road that runs from Luang Namtha to Muang Sing, gradually gaining elevation. On the way you will pass by mountains, streams, forest and villages of the ethnic minorities, like H’Mong, Lanten, Khmu, Akha, Tai Lue and Tai Dam.

 

For lunch you will stop at the Pha Nguang waterfall, that can only be reached via a small footpath, about 900 meters from the main road.

 

From the Kiew Lom mountain pass, you will quickly descend into the Muang Sing valley, with beautiful views of the mountains and rice paddies. Before you reach Muang Sing, you will climb up to the That Xieng Tueng Stupa, the most important Buddhist temple in the Muang Sing district. If there is enough time, you can have a coffee break (at own expense) at the Stupa Mountain Lodge, from where you have a great view on the Muang Sing valley. You will spend the night in a guesthouse in Muang Sing.  Dinner in a restaurant is included.

 

DAY 2

In the early morning you will visit the market in Muang Sing, where you can see the different ethnic minorities selling their non-timber forest products, taken from their farm lands or the forest. During the sightseeing you will visit the former French fort and the museum (only on weekdays). After a short break you will visit the Akha, Tai Lue and Yao Mien minorities in their villages. The tour will end around 2:00/3:00 pm and the minivan will take you back to Luang Namtha.
