This one day tour over the Namtha River offers you a chance to experience a Lao lifestyle that existed long before the introduction of modern roads. You will travel by river to many remote areas that can only be reached with a boat and will pass by forests of the protected Nam Ha area and the villages of the ethnic minorities Khmu and Lantan. 

 

The tour starts in Ban Luang, approximately 7 km North of Luang Namtha. You will have the chance to visit villages and meet the local population. After visiting Ban Luang, you will head to Sop Ha by boat. There you will go for a short walk, personally experiencing their lifestyle. This could be one of the last areas in South-East Asia where this traditional lifestyle still exists.

 

 

What to bring?

• Hat banana, sunscreen, extra set of clothes and shoes in case you get wet, mosquito repellent, warm clothes for the evening(Nov-Mar) women need a sarong for bathing, towel, rain jacket (if wet season), flashlight, money to buy  handicrafts and extra.
