In this 1 day tour you will go around Luang Namtha valley, where you visit different ethnic minorities in the surrounding area, like the Tai Dam, Tai Lue, Lanten, Akha and H’mong. You will also visit a waterfall, a museum (only open from Monday – Friday) and two temples. An english speaking guide and picnic lunch are incuded.

 

At 9:00 am you will start from the Into the Wild office. First you will visit the museum and then the Akha,  several Tai Dam, Tai Lue and Lanten ethnic villages. You can see silk production and the weaving of silk with natural dyes, a Lao Lao distillery (traditional Laotian rice whiskey), a handicraft shop of the Akha people and a bamboo paper makery in the Lanten village (if bamboo season).

 

You cycle on a dirt road, passing rice paddies on the way to Ban Nam Dee, to visit the Nam Dee waterfall. After that you cycle back to Luang Namtha at an easy pace, visiting the temple on the hill, from where you have a lovely view over Luang Namtha and the surroundings. The tour will end with a visit to the local market.

 

What to bring?

Hat banana, sunscreen, extra set of clothes and shoes in case you get wet, mosquito repellent, warm clothes for the evening (Nov-Mar) women need a sarong for bathing, towel, rain jacket (if wet season), flashlight, money to buy  handicrafts and extra drinks.
