Namha Jungle Camp + homestay

 

  • Duration: 3 days / 2 night – 5-6 hours of trekking per day

  • Departure day: Daily departures.

  • Time spent for activity:   trekking 90% transport 10%.

  • Level of difficulty: walking moderate.

  • Transport: tuk  tuk or minivan(local transportation)

  • Accommodation: Shared accommodation in the village with the mattress and mosquito net provided.

  • Meals: 7meals, 3 Lunches, 2 Diners and 2 Breakfasts.

Luang Namtha Trekking

Day 1  :  approximately 6 hours trekking

We will meet up at the office at 8:30am, The trek is in NamHa National park, protected area.

At 8:40 am a tuk tuk driver service and the lead guide service will pick you up from the office at LuangNamtha and drive for about 25km. First, you will stop at the local market where your guide will purchase food for the duration of your trek, here you can see and try many traditional Lao foods.

Then you will continue by tuk tuk to the BanNamLue traditional village, Lanten Ethnic, and Ban Cha luernsuk traditional village, Khmmu Ethnic. This is where the trekking starts, through small rivers and primary forest and deep into the Nam Ha National Park protected Area. If you have questions during this part your local guide will share with you their knowledge of edible plants, poisonous plants and medicinal plants. You can collect some to eat for your diner. In the jungle, if you are lucky you will see many wild animals: monkeys, wild pigs, snakes...

Halfway through you’ll have a picnic in the jungle. After lunch you will continue for about 3 hours to get to the jungle camp stay where your guide will cook some jungle food with a bamboo. If you want to learn you can join him and cook. After diner you’ll do the night tour inside the primary forest get a closer look at the wild life.

 

 Day 2  difficult :   (7 Hours walk)

After breakfast you will climb up to the top of the mountain and you’ll see the Animals salt on the mountaintops . 3 hours later you will have lunch and take a break for 30 mins  with your guide. After that, you will continue towards the beautiful NamJong waterfall. You can take a break for a photo, washing and taking a shower. Then, you will climb from the jungle to the mountain top where you will walk through the agricultural areas of the Akha people. There you can enjoy the view; it is a good viewpoint of the jungle surrounded by mountains. 

 You will arrive at Ban phou van (Akha village) around 4pm. Your guide will show you the traditional Akha small house; you will walk around the village.  While your host and guide prepare diner you can either relax, or learn how to steam the rice and receive cooking class from an Akha family. After diner you will receive a massage from the Akha woman, this is traditionally given to guests when they stay in the village.

 

Day 3 : Approximately 6 hours walk

At 9.30 am you will start walking up through the land and agriculture fields with a very nice view (about 30 minutes). You will visit the small school in the village. Then you will descend through primary jungle, the local guide from Akha will show you how to climb the biggest tree and how to look for the chili tree. You will walk for about 3 hours before stopping for an Akha style lunch in the forest. Then you will continue through the primary forest, coming out into rice fields for the last half hour. The trek finishes around 3:30pm where you will meet the Tuk Tuk at the roadside and drive 30 min back to the office in Luang NamTha.

 

What to bring?

  • Hat banana, sunscreen, extra set of clothes and shoes in case you get wet, mosquito repellent, warm clothes for the evening(Nov-Mar) women need a sarong for bathing, towel, rain jacket (if wet season), flashlight, money to buy  handicrafts and extra.
