Description Day 1    approximately 6 hours trekking

At 8:40 am a tuk tuk driver service and the lead guide service will pick you up from the office at LuangNamtha your guide will purchase food for the duration of your trek, here you can see and try many traditional Lao foods.

Then you will continue to the BanNamLue, Lanten, and Ban Cha luernsuk traditional ethnic villages. This is where the trekking starts, it begins with a gradual climb up a small river (bigger in raining season) through the primary forest and deep into the Nam Ha National Park protected Area. If you have questions during this part your local guide will share with you their knowledge of edible plants.In halfway  you’ll have a picnic in the jungle. After lunch you will continue through the waterfall and then to the Akha village, eco-loge where you will have cooking class and massage.

   

Day 2 difficult (5Hours walk) Approximately 7 hours

 At 9.30 am you start with a walk through the land and agriculture fields of Akha people, the guide will explain you the traditional methods of Akha people for agriculture. You will visit the small school of the village. Then you will descend into the primary jungle, the local guide from Akha will show you how to climb up the biggest tree and look for the special culming tree and continues to the camp places

 

Day 3 river kayaking

At 8:30 am, starting at the office, we first drive a tuk  tuk about 30 minutes to the river. You will learn with the guide some basic paddling in traction before going into the river. Through Kayak or rafting, you will see the national park with new eyes. The river and surrounding is inhabited by animals such as tigers, deer, bears and many kinds of birds. Along the Nam Ha River we visit Khmmu Minority people of Ban Lue village. After a set of exciting but safe rapids you will paddle along the Nam Ha River, leading up to a lunch break on the banks of the river. After a good picnic, you’ll learn about fishing. You will have time to relax and a take a refreshing swim.

The next step paddling is to the Khmmu village of Ban Nalan khmmu village; take a break to visit them. In the way you’ll see the Nam Ha rapids which continue to the next khmmu village of Ban houay leu village. The paddling ends at a point where the Nam Ha and Namtha rivers join together. From there a tuk tuk will bring you back to Louang Namtha.

 

what to bring?

  • Hat banana, sunscreen, extra set of clothes and shoes in case you get wet, mosquito repellent, warm clothes for the evening(Nov-Mar) women need a sarong for bathing, towel rain jacket (if wet season), flashlight, money to buy  handicrafts and extra

 

Luang Namtha Trekking

 

  • Duration: 3 days (1 day kayaking and 2 days trek) 5-6 hours walking per day

  • Departure day: Daily departures.

  • Time spent for activity:   trekking 90% transport 10%.

  • Level of difficulty: walking moderate.

  • Transport: tuk  tuk or minivan(local transportation)

  • Accommodation: Shared accommodation in the village with the mattress and mosquito net provided.

  • Meals: 7 meals, 3 Lunches, 2 diners and 2 breakfasts
